is currently in the first phase of launching a sophisticated new Enterprise
Collaboration and Content Management (ECCM) system. ECCM addresses the people,
processes and technologies needed to create, collect, store, search, share,
manage and dispose of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, e-mail
messages and other content.
The
first phase of the ECCM project, implementation of Microsoft SharePoint,
focuses on collaboration. SharePoint is a portal technology that supports
knowledge sharing, networking and collaboration worldwide. SharePoint is a
powerful collaboration tool where K-C employees and partners can collaborate
real-time for meetings or independently using features like threaded
discussions and wikis. SharePoint will allow people to work as if they were in
the same office, even if they are part of a globally distributed team or
working with an external partner. Additionally, content can be worked on by
multiple people within a document library. Capabilities such as access control,
workflow and version management are readily available.
